They seek a Human Resources Generalist to provide HR support for all store-level staff, store management teams, and the Director of Finance & HR as required. The HR Generalist is responsible for the accuracy of all employee data and information across all systems and supports the payroll and benefit functions. In addition, they manage the H&S Program, assist with employee relations, and the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and audit processes. Location: Mississauga / HYBRID – 3 days in office

Description

Administration

  • Employee Change Administration - promotions, demotions, departure handling, contract amendments, Dayforce adjustments, general data entry in HRIS.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll-related records and reports.

Payroll

  • Collaborate with payroll, maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date employment files and records.
  • Maintain HR Tracker; input all changes that affect payroll with clear detailed notes.

Benefits

  • Ensure all eligible employees are enrolled for benefits coverage.
  • Process changes to employees’ benefits coverage in the provider’s system and on payroll.
  • Update HRIS system with required benefit information to support payroll deductions and tracking of enrolment in the plan.

Health & Safety

  • Work in partnership with the Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSC) and Managers to assist in driving a health and safety culture; this includes participating in health and safety meetings, conducting inspections, research, etc.
  • Uphold safety trackers by logging monthly and quarterly data details and following up with store teams.
  • Set-up H&S training for WHMIS, JHSC, and other programs as required, ensuring certification details are updated in-system.

Workplace Injuries

  • Review employee injury reports, file WSIB claims, and coordinate return to work for minor injury cases.

Audits

  • Review personal time off balances for accuracy – lieu, sick, vacation.
  • Complete Salaried Hours, Full-Time Hours, Labour compliance audits.

Security Compliance

  • Facilitate background, Driver Abstract and CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration) checks.

Employee Engagement

  • Develop RRSP Program, maintain Rewards Programs such as Goodlife, Bauer and similar initiatives ensuring enrolment participation, and promotional material refresh. Policy Development
  • Assist with policy and procedures development; review of processes, update policies as required and ensure compliance with government legislation (Employment Standards Act, AODA, etc.).

Employee relations

  • Intake for employee relations concerns, taking required details, and escalating to appropriate HR team member and at times, respond to general inquiries with regards to HR policies and procedure interpretation.
  • Conduct exit interviews.

General

  • Seek opportunities to improve and streamline processes; leverage best practices and generate new ideas that move the HR function forward.
  • Perform other duties as required, including department project participation.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary education in Human Resources Management Required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in human resources and HRIS.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Code.
  • CHRP designation or actively working towards the designation an asset.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct work within appropriate privacy standards.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational ability to successfully meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.
  • Consistently project professional attitude and deliver superior client service to internal colleagues; highly proactive, with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to display initiative, plan and organize daily activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
